About Solis UTCN
Solis UTCN is the team of students at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, who build and develop solar vehicles. Founded in 2018 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the team of around 50 students from several faculties designs, builds and races vehicles powered by sunlight. It has built six vehicles since 2018. Hyperion covered about 2,700 km at the 2025 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia. In 2026 the team entered two vehicles in the iLumen European Solar Challenge, a 24-hour race at Circuit Zolder in Belgium: Hyperion Origin completed 248 laps in the Challenger class and Voyager Origin 135 laps in the Cruiser class, and Solis became Romanian national champion in both.
