Hyperion goes on show at the Bucharest Auto Show 2026

România TV writes that SOLIS Hyperion, the solar vehicle built by students of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, will be on show at the Bucharest Auto Show & Accessories from 6 to 11 October 2026. It will be displayed on the stand of the Scientific Senate of the Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania, home to Bursa SAB 2026, a national contest run with the show for urban mobility projects.

The channel describes a team of more than 40 students and five generations of vehicles. The students come from mechanics, electronics, software, aerodynamics and industrial design, and each generation meant a new vehicle and new lessons from testing. România TV calls the SOLIS vehicles laboratories on wheels, built to find out how efficiently a very small amount of energy can be used.

The report recalls that in 2023 an earlier Solis vehicle covered 1,200 km of the race in Australia on solar power, and that Hyperion was built for the next step, the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, a route of more than 3,000 km. At the 2025 edition, according to the official results, Hyperion finished 18th of 26 in the Challenger class.

Bursa SAB is in its 9th edition. Its theme is “Mobilitate inteligentă pentru un viitor verde” (smart mobility for a green future) and its prize is 5,000 euros. România TV notes that Solis is part of the foundation's “100 de tineri pentru dezvoltarea României” campaign, and that visitors to the stand will also find other finalist projects, demonstrations and workshops.
