Ziarul Făclia reports, citing UTCN, that the SOLIS student team officially presented at HUB UTCN the two solar vehicles it would race in September at the iLumen European Solar Challenge 2026 in Zolder, Belgium. The paper calls it one of the most important events for solar-powered electric mobility, held on a former Formula 1 circuit.

The first vehicle is Hyperion Origin, a single-seater for the Challenger class, tuned for performance and aerodynamic efficiency. The second is Voyager Origin, a Cruiser-class vehicle designed for two people and for a modern idea of sustainable mobility. Both were designed and built by students of the university.

According to UTCN, the two vehicles bring together solar panels, smart systems for storing and converting energy, efficient electric motors, light composite materials and tuned software. More than 70 students worked on them, in the mechanical, software, electrical, communication and sponsorship departments. Făclia describes SOLIS as one of the university's most important student projects in green technology.
